Unlimited web agency: how it works, its limits and how to choose one

An unlimited web agency is an agency paid by monthly subscription, at a fixed price, that handles an uncapped number of requests, one at a time, in a queue you order. For companies whose product changes every month. How it works, its limits, and the proof to ask for before signing.

What is an unlimited web agency?

The word is recent, the promise is simple: instead of asking for a quote for every need, you pay an agency monthly and drop your requests as they come. Website, application, integrations, design, automations. The queue moves, you approve, you move on.

An unlimited web agency is an agency that sells its services on a fixed-price monthly subscription, with no cap on the number of requests, handled one at a time in a queue the client orders. The model comes from unlimited design; applied to development, we also say unlimited development or dev as a service. The difference with a classic agency is not the skills, it is the contract: no quote per project, no amendment per change.

The short definition, the origin of the term and the table of the five ways to move a product forward are on the unlimited development page. Here we look at how it really works, and what to check before signing.

Unlimited: what does it actually mean?

This is the point offer pages leave blurry, and the one that decides your experience. Unlimited means you can drop as many requests as you want. It does not mean they are built at the same time. Each subscription gives a production capacity, a slot at Figue, that handles one active request at a time. The others wait their turn, in the order you chose.

This mechanism is not a sales trick, it is what makes the fixed price possible. An agency promising to handle ten requests in parallel for the price of one would have to hire at a loss or cut quality. The queue protects both sides: you know what is in progress, the agency knows what it has to deliver.

Need two topics moving at once, a deep rebuild while day-to-day work continues? The answer is a second slot, not a promise of speed. At Figue, it is at public price, €1,990 per month ex VAT, no volume discount. Other agencies offer tiers; the principle is the same.

What can you ask an unlimited web agency for?

The scope of an unlimited web agency depends on its skills, and you should read it in the contract rather than the tagline. Figue Unlimited's covers everything that keeps an existing digital product alive.

Out of scope, in general: third-party costs (hosting, domain names, licences, paid APIs) billed by your providers in your name, on-call cover (no night or weekend duty, no guaranteed incident response), and a whole product built from scratch with a fixed scope, which calls for a separate quote.

On that last point, we wrote why a first product is scoped as a test rather than a V1: your spec describes a V1, not an MVP.

Capacity and turnaround: what is the difference?

Capacity is the number of active requests at the same time: one slot, one request. Turnaround is the time between dropping a request and its delivery. The first is contractual. The second depends on three things nobody controls in advance: the complexity of the request, the access and information that must be obtained, and the number of approval rounds.

A serious unlimited web agency therefore does not promise a date per request. It promises visibility: you see at any time what is in progress, what is waiting on you, what is delivered. The “24 to 48 hours” promises you read on some offers come from design, where a request is a mockup; on production code, with tests and a go-live, they describe micro-requests at best.

“Figue gives no service level commitment. Any timescales mentioned are indicative. The order of handling follows the Client's priorities in the Queue.”

The lever you control is the size of requests. A two-day request goes through the queue fast; a three-week request blocks it for three weeks. Splitting is the best way to see many deliveries a month.

Unlimited subscription, one-off project or maintenance contract: which to choose?

Three contracts for three situations. The one-off project has a start and an end. The application maintenance contract (TMA in France) fixes and maintains, often with a cap on hours. The unlimited subscription puts maintenance and evolutions in the same queue, with no cap on requests.

Three contracts, side by side
CriterionOne-off projectMaintenance contractUnlimited subscription
What you payA quote, a scope, a dateA package, often in hoursA fixed monthly price

A new needAn amendment or a new quoteOut of contract, oftenOne more request in the queue
CommitmentThe length of the projectA year, usuallyOften none
The right caseA whole product to buildStable software to maintainA product that evolves every month

The deciding question: is your product finished? If it is, a maintenance contract is enough. If it is not, and it never is while it has users, the subscription absorbs both, the Friday fix and next month's feature, without re-quoting.

The full cost of each option, employee and freelancer included, is detailed in how much does a developer cost in 2026.

What proof should you ask for before signing?

All unlimited agencies present themselves the same way. The differences are in the terms and in the tool. Six things to ask for, and to read.

One last test, free: ask the agency when it is not the right answer. The one that answers “never” does not know its limits. The one that answers “the product from scratch, on-call cover, the in-house team to build” knows them, and will also tell you when a request is badly scoped.

How does Figue Unlimited work?

For transparency, here is how we apply all of the above. Figue Unlimited is a monthly subscription with no commitment, at €1,990 per month ex VAT at public price, with lower launch pricing for the first clients. One slot, one active request at a time, an unlimited queue you order from Figue Studio or from your AI assistant through MCP.

01

You drop, we scope

In writing, by voice or from Claude or ChatGPT. We ask the missing questions and split into deliverable steps. No quote.

02

French engineers build, AI speeds up

AI produces fast; an engineer picks the approach, reviews and tests. Nothing ships without a human looking at it.

03

You approve, we move to the next one

Delivery on a preview, approval, go-live. The next request starts. The code, designs and documentation are yours, transferred as work is delivered.

What we do not offer: no on-call cover, no turnaround promise, no dedicated team. The team is shared across our clients, with a point of contact who knows your product and two catch-ups a month. That is what makes the price possible. The absence of on-call cover, guaranteed turnaround and dedicated team is written in our terms of sale.

Frequently asked questions

The unlimited web agency, in questions

What we get asked before the first month.

Is unlimited really unlimited?

The number of requests you submit, yes. The volume delivered depends on their size and on the capacity subscribed: one active request at a time per slot. An agency promising otherwise is selling something it cannot deliver.

What is the difference with a classic web agency?

The skills are the same. The contract changes: a fixed monthly price and a request queue replace the quote per project and the amendment per change. You no longer negotiate each need, you drop it.

What if I need several things at the same time?

You order the queue, and the agency takes the top of it as soon as a slot frees up. If two topics really must move in parallel, you add a second slot, at the public rate at Figue. It is the only honest way to speed up.

Can I pause or stop the subscription?

At Figue, you cancel at any time from your workspace, with no reason or fees. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period: the period in progress remains due, and you leave with the code and the access. Some agencies offer a pause, others a multi-month commitment for a lower price: read the clause.

Can an unlimited web agency take over my existing site or app?

It is the most common case at Figue: most of our clients already run a product. We look at the repository and access on the first call and say straight away what we take over, with no forced rewrite.
