GLOSSARY

The words of unlimited development.

Slot, queue, request, staff augmentation, maintenance contract: the terms we use, defined in a few lines, with the meaning they have in our terms.

AI agent

A program that runs a business task end to end using an AI model: reading an email, qualifying a request, drafting a reply, updating a tool. At Figue, an AI agent is a request like any other, scoped and reviewed by engineers.

AI agents for small businesses: six cases

Unlimited web agency

An agency that sells its services on a monthly subscription, with unlimited requests in a queue, rather than project by project on quote. The term comes from design; applied to development, we say unlimited development.

Unlimited web agency: how it works

Request

The unit of work at Figue: a need expressed in your own words, in writing, by voice or from your AI assistant. A request is scoped, built, then approved by you. There is no cap on the number of requests you submit.

Writing a good request

Technical debt

The accumulated cost of shortcuts taken in a codebase: what slows down every next change. It is paid back through small, regular requests more often than through a rebuild.

Rebuild or evolve?

On-demand developer

A developer brought in when you need one, often billed by the time spent. No queue, no fixed price: availability and cost vary every time.

Unlimited development

A fixed-price monthly subscription that lets you submit as many development requests as you need, delivered one at a time per slot by a team of engineers. This is the Figue Unlimited model.

Unlimited development, explained

Development subscription (dev as a service)

The generic term for a development team paid monthly rather than per project. Also called dev as a service. Scope, queue and the number of parallel requests depend on the offer.

Development as a service: pricing and comparison

“Waiting on you”

In Figue Studio, the state of a request waiting on you: a question, an approval, a go-ahead for production. A request waiting on you does not take a slot.

Queue

All your requests not yet started, in the order you choose. It has no limit. The team always takes the top of the queue as soon as a slot frees up.

Fixed-price project

A project scoped, priced and signed before work starts: landing page, internal tool, SaaS, mobile app or marketplace. The right format for a whole new product, where the subscription is for evolving what exists.

Fixed-price projects

MCP

Model Context Protocol: a standard that lets an AI assistant (Claude, ChatGPT or others) talk to a tool. With Figue, you create, prioritise and track your requests from your AI assistant, without opening the Studio.

Manage your product from ChatGPT or Claude

MVP

Minimum viable product: the smallest version of a product that lets you learn something from real users. Not a cut-down V1, a test. Most specs actually describe a V1.

MVP or V1: how to scope

Staff augmentation

A person placed in your team and billed by the day. You manage, you test, you approve. Figue Unlimited is not staff augmentation: you pay for a verified result, not days.

Figue vs freelancer

Slot

The production capacity that handles one active request at a time. One slot by default; a second one to move two topics in parallel. A slot can be added whenever you need it, a removal takes effect at the end of the period; an extra slot is at the public rate.

Maintenance contract (TMA)

Third-party application maintenance: a contract to fix and maintain existing software, often with a cap on hours, rarely to evolve it. Unlimited development puts maintenance and evolutions in the same queue.
